10 April 2019 \u2013 Digital Data Exchange (DDEX<\/a>), the international standards-setting organization dedicated to improving the exchange of data and information across the music industry, will host its twice-yearly seminar, titled \u201cDDEX Presents \u2014 Music Metadata: Where We Are and Where We\u2019re Going<\/a>,\u201d at the Student Life Center at Vanderbilt University in Nashville on May 24th.<\/p>\n

Open to non-DDEX members, the full-day event will feature presentations from DDEX Secretariat members Niels Rump, Steffen Lindek and Mark Isherwood, who will discuss current music metadata trends as well as DDEX\u2019s future plans and its latest developments in cross-industry cooperation, the digital supply chain, sales\/usage reporting, and linking works to sound recordings. They will be joined by industry leaders Jos\u00e9 Macorro of CISAC, who will discuss the ISWC standard; Paul Jessop of County Analytics, who will discuss the ISNI standard; and a still-to-be-announced representative of the ISRC standard, who will address how these music identifiers work with DDEX to facilitate data exchange.<\/p>\n

The seminar will be the last in a series of DDEX member meetings, including its twice-yearly Plenary Meeting, taking place in Nashville on May 20-23.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis round of meetings, that occur twice a year, are what provide the momentum that drives DDEX forward. The Plenary Meeting involves the best and the brightest minds in music industry operations and IT coming together to engage in thought provoking conversation on the continued development of DDEX standards and the creation of new ones to meet the needs of the ever changing digital music landscape,\u201d said Mark Isherwood, member of the DDEX Secretariat. \u201cWith streaming sales higher than ever before, the conversation about the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the creation, maintenance, and communication of music metadata is more important than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
